2021 Art In Windows On Display At Two Downtown Richmond Locations

If you haven’t viewed the Art in Windows exhibition in Downtown Richmond, you're missing out. Luckily for you, there are a couple of more days to view the exhibits on display. Art In Windows, the annual storefront exhibitions program pioneered by Richmond Main Street Initiative, kicked off on May 1 and is running through May 22. In March, the Art in Windows call for artists resulted in 34 submissions from 26 artists. Out of the submissions for the 2021 Art in Windows program, eight artists were selected to have their works on display. Winning artists have either lived, worked, and/or exhibited in Richmond and include: Mireya Betances, Eddie Braught, Sarah Waite Chase, Deatra Colbert, Robin D. Lopez, Elmarise Owens, Esmeralda Silva, and Karin Turner.
Artwork that is on display ranges from photography and ceramics to drawing and paintings. Currently, the artwork is being shown in two simultaneous exhibitions in NIAD Art Center and RMSI’s window. Both exhibitions can be viewed from the street, and the online exhibition presents an expanded catalog of artists' work that features new items exclusive to the online platform. Art In Windows is funded by the Richmond Arts and Culture Commission’s Neighborhood Public Arts Mini-Grant. For more information, check out
